Water.

Don’t you dare touch her, boy.
She is water.
Her eyes imitate the abyss of the mighty oceans combined.
And that abyss isn’t afraid to stare right back.
So don’t you dare plunge into her soul
For she’ll whip up a storm from the ripples you make.
And as you try to grasp at her being,
She’ll slip right through your fingers.

Fire.

Don’t you dare touch her, boy.
For she is fire.
Sometimes she’ll flicker, and sometimes she’ll dance.
But you’ll be burning just the same.

Ignorance.

Embers turn into ash and dust.
Facets lose their final lust.
And yet you poke the coal,
Stirring memories old.
Yet you polish the surface,
Remnants of the love you purchased.

Your wrinkles now, define your face.
Still, you hide their solemn grace.
Your eyes keep on losing focus,
Still, you hold their arrogant gaze.

They told you that your time is near.
But you carelessly held your nose up too high.
Defiance to the extent of imprudence
Now you lay here, sordid and frail, still unwilling to die.

Keep me where the world glorifies the greatest
Find me where the heartless don’t dare
Consume me to feel what the world isn’t made to be
Leave me …
Well. Leave me to pretend that it’s always fair.

The world is cracking its glass. The mighty are falling from their grace. The countries are tumbling into war. For hell’s sake, somebody pass me the goddamn  duct tape and let’s fix this mess… Okay?

Life.

I had once got an email forwarded by Lorelai (Not the real name but good enough :|)  who had a poem very similar to this and it… not ‘touched’ exactly but I kinda felt it and I wrote something close to the original. It was a long time ago and I found it recently while taking a trip down memory lane. It reminded me of what I thought I would be and where I might end up… Anyway, enjoy.

Listen to the music
before it lasts
Try going slow
Don’t dance to fast
Let the water
devour the sun
Don’t tie that hair up
Just let it come undone
Try listening to the rain
Slapping on the ground
Watch the butterfly’s erratic flight
Just wait a moment to look around
Don’t hold that breath
For the right time
just let it all go
it’s supposed to end fine
Life is not a race
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over
Listen to the music
before it lasts
Try going slow
Don’t dance to fast

She Won’t Know

Her shadow faded
Her skin wore off
Her name misplaced
Her eyes looked lost
Her heart was a void
Her whisper turned to frost
But you can keep on saying
Whatever you want

You can go to the Ends of Earth for her
She won’t know where you’ve been
You can bring the stars at her feet
She won’t know where to see

His light faded into her shadow
His skin was hers bit by bit
Her name misplaced to spell his
She started seeing the way he did
His heart filled hers
He warmed her whispers
But you can keep on saying
What ever you want

You can go to the Ends of Earth for her
She won’t know where you’ve been
You can bring the stars at her feet
She won’t know where to see

War Wasted.

Smoke screens and gas bombs
With leather hearts, they carried on
Bulletproof and scratchless
With every little, singular breath a bless

Guns and bombs fought with thier screams
A path of crimson stained their streams
Ebbed out memories linger in those lifeless eyes
The wind still carries their sorrowful cries

Tattered bodies still lay muffled by the ground
Even after a decade has come to be found
No dares enter their subtle graves
Where their tarnished souls still roam astray
